CBN hiring two summer interns

Summary:
CBN is hiring two bike shop interns for the summer, 2010, August to September. The interns will assist staff in running the CBN bike shop as well as gaining valuable job skills and bike skills, both mechanical and riding.

The Bike Shop Interns will work in the bike shop for the bike season, 2010, starting August to September, learning valuable job and life skills, while also contributing to CBN's bike refurbishing and education efforts. Read the full job description before applying.

CBN staff will mentor the interns in developing problem solving skills, gaining a better understanding of simple mechanical systems, acquiring job skills, and studying bike safety.

The Bike Shop Interns will also assist the regular staff in the Bike Shop in support of CBN’s Earn-a-Bike partnership, which provides volunteer youth with mechanical skills training and eventually their own bike in reward for their volunteer time. Through this initiative, the interns will help the trainers to lead youth through bike mechanics workshops. It's preferable that the interns a bike mechanics workshop such as Charlie's Freewheels Workshops, the Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance Course or equivalent.

Do-It-Yourself Hours Changing

Summary:
As of the week of March 22, 2010, Tool Rental days will be changing to only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Attention all DIYers!

As of the week of March 22, 2010, Tool Rental days will be changing. We will be modifying Tool Rental days for do-it-yourselfers to be only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Otherwise, things remain the same: as long as we're open on those days, you're welcome to come and rent the tools and stands on a first-come, first-served basis. Mechanics will still be available to help you out.

The only difference will be that on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the stand space is all reserved for our mechanics to get things done. Thanks for your co-operation, and see you soon!

Own a Yellow Bikeshare Bike!

Summary:
Now is the chance for 10 lucky people to own a piece of Toronto history and culture!

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages: we are letting go of 10 of our iconic yellow Bikeshare bikes!

Even now, three years after the closure of the Bikeshare program, these bikes are a well-known visual in the city, and people visiting Toronto from various global destinations still come looking for a yellow bike to ride while they are in town.

This is your opportunity to own a piece of local history. Each is distinctively individual! Above and beyond that (although that is pretty exciting), these are the beautifully simple, built-for-the-city singlespeed coaster bikes. All of the bikes have been kept in good working order for rental use, and are ready to ride out the door (not to mention that they come with a 3-month warranty).

Maybe you had special memories of Bocephus, or Sparkle brings a glimmer to your eye. Maybe you always thought that Stuart should be your own special guy, or God's Work seemed like a good idea to you. Come and visit us and take one home for $200 (plus GST). (They make great gifts!)
